I can hand a client a clear, evidence-backed plan for her next career move, and two weeks later she has not sent a single message from it. Not because the plan is wrong. Because every time she opens the draft, her chest tightens, her thoughts start racing, and she closes the laptop. If that sounds familiar, nothing is wrong with you. Knowing what to do and being able to do it are two different systems, and most career advice only speaks to the first one.
Why smart people freeze on career decisions
A significant career move threatens things your nervous system cares about deeply: income, identity, belonging, and the version of you other people depend on. When the stakes feel that high, the body treats action like danger. You procrastinate, overthink, rehearse worst cases, or suddenly find six new reasons to wait. That response does not respond to logic, because it was never produced by logic. This is why another spreadsheet, another pros and cons list, and another pep talk change nothing.
What EFT Tapping actually is
EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques. It combines focused language about a specific issue with gentle tapping on acupressure points. In a session we name one clear issue, notice the thoughts, feelings, and body sensations attached to it, and work through rounds of tapping using your own words, tracking how the intensity changes. People use it for the feeling that keeps taking over: the freeze before a decision, the guilt about wanting something different, the charge that a layoff left behind. You leave with a short sequence you can keep using on your own.
What hypnotherapy actually is (and is not)
Hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation, focused attention, imagery, and suggestion to work with beliefs and patterns underneath constant conscious analysis. You stay aware and in control the whole time. It is not stage tricks and it is not mind control. It suits the pattern you understand intellectually but keep repeating anyway: shrinking in visibility, distrusting your own judgment, feeling unsafe asking for more money, or holding onto a professional identity you have already outgrown.
Strategy for the decision, inner work for the follow-through
In my practice these are two halves of one process. The strategy work answers what has changed, which move holds up against evidence, and how to position yourself for it. The inner work addresses what happens in your body and your beliefs when you try to act on the answer. Some clients only need the strategy. Some book only the inner work. The people navigating the biggest transitions usually need both, because a plan you cannot execute is just a nicer-looking version of being stuck.
What booking a session looks like
Sessions are standalone. You do not need to be enrolled in a coaching engagement, and there is no package to commit to. EFT Tapping runs 60 minutes, hypnotherapy runs 75, and there is a 90-minute combined session for when a feeling is intense and the pattern under it runs deep. Everything happens over video. One honest note on scope: these are educational, supportive personal-development sessions led by a certified practitioner. They are not psychotherapy or medical care, and they are not a substitute for a licensed mental health professional.
